To make a straight staircase, you will select the Straight Stairway icon. Click and drag in the direction you want (remember that it always goes "up"). The purpose for allowing it to draw up, stop, and move either left or right is to make the stairs angle up in that direction. The program will also create a landing automatically; the size of the landing will depend upon the width of the stairs.
